Christmas Story

Being a military family, we are well aware of the adjustment period that has to occur when your husband/daddy comes home from deployment. Well it is Christmas and it just seems to amplify the problem. No more just soft mom wearily letting you get away with the "small stuff". DAD is home, and it is truly time to get back into "ship shape". I do love to have him home, but I have to admit he is tougher on all of us.
Anyway, we had a great Christmas. The boys loved their presents and I am hopeful that the true meaning of Christmas got through to them. We have a tradition where we give them three gifts. The gift of Gold, Frankincence, and Myrrh. The gift of Gold is something that they really want like a toy or game. The gift of Frankincence is something to make you smell good, mostly this is shampoo and fresh p.j.'s. The gift of Myrrh is something to help you grow spiritually. This was the first year that Weston and Chase were interested in exchanging gifts. It was wonderful to see them thinking of others. I think next year we will start them drawing names.
Christmas is really a joyous time; however I always want it to be perfect. It never is. Why is that? Can't we have just a few days of perfection once a year? No fighting, no naughty behavior, and only love and smiles. Oh well, maybe next year ; )
